Miley Cyrus 2013 MTV VMAs – Disturbing

My observations about Miley Cyrus’ 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance of “We Can’t Stop”. This was a demonically degrading performance. It includes signs of demonic possession, like her tongue sticking out. I also discuss how this relates to God’s Word, the Bible, and sin.

Your Fate is in Your Hands

hand

Proverbs 5:22, 23:

His ow n iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

We have a choice in the matter of salvation. God doesn’t force our will. If we are overcome by iniquity, it is because we have given into it without constantly fighting against it.

The fate of such actions are clearly revealed in Scripture. Going astray from the Lord and (the second) death (Revelation 2:12) is what’s in store.

We need to submit our lives to Jesus in prayer every day. We need to really fight against sin. We need to be in our Bibles and be fortified with prayer. Otherwise, we will end up lost.

Why God isn’t Answering Your Prayers

prayerPsalm 66:18:

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

God will not hear the prayers of someone who is cherishing sin in their heart. We need to be completely honest and sincere with God. If there is any sin in our lives which we have not given over to the Lord, our relationship with God will be compromised.

If we say in our heart, I will give everything to the Lord except my lustful thoughts, or my liquor drinking, or my temper; God will not honor us. God honors those who honor Him. It is only after we make a complete surrender to the Lord that He may bless us with answered prayer.

Now, this doesn’t mean that we have to start living a completely sinless life before God fulfills our prayers. Don’t get me wrong. We could be struggling with a certain sin. We may honestly want to stop lusting or drinking; and we may be praying to God for his mercy and strength over those matters. And He will honor our prayers. What’s important, however, is that we are seeking God in the matter and that we are fighting the battle to overcome it.

Whatever your struggle is, give it over to God. Rest assured that He will aid you as long as you are not holding any of your sinful desires back. And if you are wondering why your prayers aren’t being answered, examine yourself to see if there is any area in your life that you have surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Salvation & Sanctification

crucifix

Psalm 56:13:

For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

The statement that King David made above is also applicable to the Christian experience. God has delivered us from death—the penalty of sin. Jesus died for our sins on the cross so we don’t have to. Along with saving us, God also enables us to walk, that is to live, according to His Word.

Second Peter 1:3-4 puts it this way:

…his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

In other words, we are not only saved from the penalty of sin, we are also saved from the power of sin. We don’t have to sin. Moreover we shouldn’t be sinning. That is what God wants to teach us. Not only so we can be a glory to His name and blessing to others in this life, but so we can prepare for the eternal life of righteousness to come.

May God be with you in your daily walk with Him. God bless you.

Sinning is Not Easy

prayerPsalm 38:1-3:

1. O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

2. For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

3. There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

Sinning is not easy because you must strive with the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. This is what King David was experiencing above. His conscience was burdened.

Having a burdened and guilty conscience is, in essence, the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. This is actually a good thing, believe it or not; because it is designed to get us to recognize our wrongs and repent from them. This way, God can forgive us and we may be restored in our relationship with Him.

What’s not good is if we resist our guilty conscience. Then the force of it dissipates until we no longer feel guilty of sinning. This is what it means to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. This is the unpardonable sin; because God can’t forgive you for what you don’t repent from and confess to Him.

Therefore, the next time you suffer from a guilty conscience, make sure to make amends with God and right your wrongs as soon as possible. Procrastination is a tool of the devil that can cost you your salvation.

Misrepresenting God

ImageJob 42:7: “… the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.”

It is not a light matter to misrepresent God. As a matter of fact, it is a sin (vs. 8). This is why it is so important for each individual to read and study God’s Word for themselves; and to test every teacher and preacher of the Bible according to the standard of God’s Word.

The doctrines that we accept or reject will affect our character and witness for God. If we accept false doctrines, we will give a false witness; and the tenth commandment condemns bearing false witness (Ex. 20:17).

Moreover, our focus needs to be on Jesus. He needs to reign supreme in our lives. We should not allow any teacher, preacher, or theory to become more precious to us than Jesus.
